N West teacher who snapped photo suspended, class teacher under investigation

Following Laerskool Schweizer Reneke making headlines after a photograph of the grade R class went viral showing black and white children sitting apart, it has emerged that the teacher suspended was the one who took the photo rather than the one in charge of the class in question.

What has happened, is that the department has confirmed that the teacher involved in the separation of these pupils, has not been suspended as yet, but the teacher who has been suspended is the teacher who took the photos that went viral.

Thando Kubheka, EWN reporter

The education department has confirmed that teacher who took the offending photograph is suspended.

The class teacher is still under investigation.

They are also saying that the teacher who was involved in segregating the class is currently being investigated and are hoping that announcement of whether her suspension or future in the school will be announced later today.

Thando Kubheka, EWN reporter

Kubheka reports that the department has also confirmed that teaching and learning at the school have returned to normal, however, security has been beefed up.
