Timol's nephew wants judicial inquiry into lack of apartheid-era prosecutions

The nephew of Ahmed Timo has approached the presidency to find out why the National Prosecuting Authority has failed to investigate and prosecute apartheid- era police officers who were not granted amnesty at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Imtiaz Cajee wants President Cyril Ramaphosa to open a judicial commission of inquiry.

He says there has been no movement in nearly 300 cases.

We have a history of more than 300 TRC cases handed over to the NPA, where we have seen over the years, absolutely no progress has been made.

Imtiaz Cajee, nephew of Ahmed Timol

One can only make a very simple inference, that there is no political will on the part of the NPA...these cases have been blocked for a number of years, families have found absolutely no justice and closure.
