'The mayor categorically denies that eThekwini council will pay for Zuma album'
The mayor of eThekwini Municipality Zandile Gumede says the municipality doesn't know anything about supporting former President Jacob Zuma's album.
EWN reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo, who has been following the story, says the mayor included this statement during the Executive Council Meeting on Tuesday.
She has categorically denied that there had ever been plans for the eThekwini council to pay for former president Jacob Zuma upcoming album.Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN Reporter
She says that proper protocol was never followed and judging from her tone, it seems as though she is insinuating that Thembikosi Ngcobo, the head of Parks and Recreations jumped and made an announcement to the media about something that was never discussed.Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN Reporter
Ngcobo reports that in order for a municipality to approve such a payment, it would have at least needed to be tabled at an exco meeting which includes all opposition parties.
She adds that the mayor and Ngcobo do not get along and when the mayor was making her speech, you could tell that she was upset.
Ncobo reports that the mayor also dismissed the charges of fraud alluded to in the press, saying the media must stop spreading false information.
