Gauteng MEC visits Hoërskool President after fight video goes viral

Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi says four boys involved in a fight at Hoërskool President in Ridegway, Johannesburg have been suspended.

A video of the fight has gone viral. In the recording, a boy is seen throwing punches at another pupil.

Lesufi visited the school on Friday.

This one of two incidents of violence he has had to attend to this week.

I want to congratulate both schools for acting even before we arrived. In both circumstances, all children affected were suspended and we are waiting for the hearings.

Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC

I got a briefing at Hoërskool President. What they have done is identify four young boys responsible for this thing and they were immediately suspended. They have also released 10 teachers who will now patrol the school during breaks so that we do not have these kinds of incidents happening.
