Firefighters continue to monitor Signal Hill and Lion's Head for any flare-ups following the raging fires that burned parts of the mountain on Sunday night.
The spokesperson for the Western Cape local government, James-Brent Styan says the fire is currently under control.
The major problem is that we had a terrible drought, the worst drought we can remember, so the veld is extremely dry... which burns very quickly especially with the strong winds that we are seeing.— James-Brent Styan, Spokesperson for Local Government
Even when you put out the fire it is possible that it could flare up again.— James-Brent Styan, Spokesperson for Local Government
According to Styan, there are no reports of any damage to property but a man's been seriously injured in the Signal Hill and Lion's Head fires.
