Meet Grace Msyali, housekeeper and working entrepreneur building up her nest egg

Grace Msyali works primarily as a housekeeper and has always sought out opportunities to generate extra income to support her family. She founded Amazing Grace Gourmet, a novel idea to help raise and educate her son.

Working as a housekeeper, the cost of living is quite high. I couldn't make ends meet and I was always looking for something else to do.

Grace Msyali, founder of Amazing Grace Gourmet

Amazing Grace Gourmet is a service that delivers free range eggs, every second Thursday of the month, to businesses and homes in the Atlantic Seaboard and CBD area in Cape Town.

Grace Msyali, founder of Amazing Grace Gourmet, with CapeTalk host Kieno Kammies.

She says she was inspired after her employer happened to order fish from someone who was delivering it from Franshoek. She then had the idea to create her own service to bring convenience to local households and businesses.

Msyali says that her client base initially started with her employer’s friends, but it is now fast growing to a wider reach.

The response is overwhelming and Amazing Grace Gourmet has grown through word of mouth – it just keeps getting better.

While maintaining this service, Grace still works as a housekeeper. She hopes to expand her business and has recently started a Facebook page to market herself.

I think I’m ready for whatever doors are open out there and to grab all opportunities with both hands.
