'People still need to be educated about HIV' - Bongiwe Tshabalala

African National Congress (ANC) MP Tasneem Motara continues to receive support from South Africans, following her recent disclosure that she’s HIV positive.

Motara says she decided to take to Facebook to publicly reveal her status after a former lover had threatened to do so.

Joanne Joseph spoke to National Chairperson of the Treatment Action Campaign, Bongiwe Tshabalala about the continued stigmatization around HIV and whether people's perceptions have changed.

It is unfortunate that most of the time the cases we are battling people who are close to you who are stigmatising....

Everybody talks about HIV, although we are no longer seeing that hype as we have seen before, people who want to learn about HIV, you can go to the nearest clinic and ask questions.

People still need to be educated, people still need information because it seems we are still not well informed.
