Tweeps not chuffed with Cape Party's video of watermelon 'slaughter' on CT beach

Twitter users are not impressed with the Cape Party's recent campaign stunt involving the "slaughter" of everyone's favourite summer fruit.

The party recently posted a re-enactment of the now famous sheep slaughter which took place on Clifton 4th Beach over December - featuring a watermelon instead.

Last year, activists slaughtered a sheep in what they said was an attempt to cleanse the popular beach of racism, after reports of a security company removing beachgoers.

The small political organisation posted a campaign video on their social media, admonishing racism and animal slaughter.

"We do not slaughter animals and we do not tolerate racism. No. Here in the Cape, we do things differently" Cape Party leader Jack Miller says in the video.

"Capetonians must not take a backward step against this aggressive cultural imperialism which seeks to eradicate our way of life", the party writes on its Facebook page.

The secessionist movement is determined to have the Cape become independent from South Africa to become its own country.
