DA would be lucky to make any advance at all in this election - Peter Bruce

Sunday Times and Business Day columnist Peter Bruce has written a very compelling piece in Business Day in which he breaks down the potentially damaging splits which have hit the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the African National Congress (ANC)

He joined Karima Brown on her show, to talk about his thoughts.

Speaking on the DA's liberal principles, Bruce says a breakaway would be needed to revive it - a proposition he thinks is attractive for some party members who feel the organisation is slipping away.

He says the DA would be lucky if they improved their numbers in the upcoming election.

The DA would be lucky to make any advance at all in this election. They have got nothing. The policy will be a tweak of what has been their policy forever, they sound very conventional, it will make absolutely no impression on the crisis we are facing.

It is not Mmusi Maimane's fault because I know he has tried and I have seen some of the ideas that he had but not one of them has come through... he is only one voice amongst them.
