According to the Sunday Times, ambassadors of governments from the United Kingdom, the USA, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland have written to the South African Presidency warning that the country needs to make definitive moves against corruption.
The spokesperson at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Ndivhuwo Mabaya says the way this communique was presented was not according to protocol.
We acknowledge the issues that they have raised, and action has been taken on them, but the protocol needs to be observed when they write to the country.— Ndivhuwo Mabaya, Spokesperson - Department of International Relations and Cooperation
He adds that when ambassadors write to the Presidency, they are representing their perspective governments, therefore their form of communications need to be in line with international protocol.
