Investigating officer claims strong case against former crime intelligence boss
Hawks investigator Kobus Roelofse appeared for the second time before the Mokgoro Inquiry to conclude his testimony and to be cross-examined.
Roelofse investigated serious fraud and murder charges against former head of Police Crime Intelligence, Richard Mdluli.
He told the Inquiry that he had a strong case against Mdluli, says EWN reporter Barry Bateman.
He claims he was removed from Mdluli's case and was charged with misconduct in an attempt to derail the investigations.
Roelofse says the arguments put forward by Mrwebi had nothing to do with the merits of the case. When the case was withdrawn in 2012 it was ripe and ready for prosecution.Barry Bateman, Senior reporter - EWN
It was put by Mrwebi's council that if he does go to testify he should say that the reason it was withdrawn in 2012 it was because the case was not properly investigated from the start.Barry Bateman, Senior reporter - EWN
The inquiry is looking into Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi’s fitness to hold office.
