How do children know that you love them? Do we know what makes them feel loved? Creative parenting expert - Nikki Bush joined Phemelo on the Weekend Breakfast to discuss the topic. Nikki said, everybody has a love tank, if your love tank is running on empty, despite your parents' best intentions to make you feel loved, its empty.
There are five different love languages, and we all have a different primary love language. They are: Words of affirmation - people need words in order for their love tank to be full. Positive affirming words and soothing words. Then we have physical touch, that's to receive hugs, handshakes pat on the back or just doing tasks together. Having physicals needs met, such as home cooked meals.

Many parents bring with them their own ideas of what they think should be the love language of children and the families should understand it, forgetting that children have mind of their own, and they can determine what they perceive as love a love language. Often, you would hear that the father of the house believing that them providing for the family is their love language and everybody must get it.
Speaking to Phemelo Motene on the Weekend Breakfast, Nikki said, what makes the other person feel loved, that means you are loving them and that is the important part.
