[LATEST] The aim is to eliminate load shedding by Thursday - Eskom

Eskom's demand management senior general manager Andrew Etzinger gives an update about load shedding.

The country is currently at load shedding stage 3. Check your schedule here.

He confirms that of the seven generators that had to be taken offline on Monday, six are back online.

One more small generator is expected back online by 6pm.

Things have gone well, and the prognosis for the rest of the week is a lot brighter than it was otherwise going to be.

He says Eskom is using this gap to build up emergency reserves.

That's basically pumping water up to the upper dam on our pump storage power stations as well as building diesel reserves ready to give the rest of week a very good go.

The Minister of Public Enterprises met with Eskom's board of directors and executive committee on Monday.

All agree that the aim is to eliminate load shedding by Thursday.

He says the issues have been technical, and he does not believe it has been carried out through sabotage action.

This hasn't been malicious or a conspiracy.
