The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) in Tshawane says it is unhappy with the African National Congress in the region and how it has handled accusations of corruption against city manager Moeketsi Mosola.
Mosola is accused of disregarding procedures and unlawfully granting engineering firm GladAfrica a multi-billion-rand contract.
The organisation is calling for the embattled manager to be fired.
Karima Brown spoke to District Secretary of the YCLASA Kgabo Morifi for more.
We are saying the ANC was vocal in exposing this corruption on the side of the municipal manager but we were getting worried with what we coined as the flirtation with the Economic Freedom Fighters that is very clear on protecting the municipal manager that is corrupt.— Kgabo Morifi, District secretary - Tshwane YCLASA
The organisation says it has received reports that there are members of the ANC caucus siding with Mosola.
We have heard reports and officials of the municipality coming to us, saying there are members of the caucus of the ANC who are meddling in issues of the city and are siding with the city manager. I have personally raised this, I am not comfortable with the manner in which the ANC is approaching the case on Mr Mosola. Mosola is a big man, you are talking about a demigod, a man presiding over an absolutely corrupt organ of the state.— Kgabo Morifi, District secretary - Tshwane YCLASA
We do not understand why the ANC cannot support any motion that says Mosola is on the wrong side of the law and we are suspending him.— Kgabo Morifi, District secretary - Tshwane YCLASA
