On Monday, African National Congress (ANC) spokesperson, Pule Mabe was cleared of sexual harassment during an internal hearing following a complaint brought by his former PA.
The hearing put the spotlight on the fact that the party does not have a policy on sexual harassment.
It's now been given 90 days to devise a sexual harassment policy, for future use.
This prompted author and Daily Maverick journalist Rebecca Davis, to look into seven political parties.
She found that five, including the ANC, have no sexual harassment policies.
Only it appears, the DA and the Good party currently have any form pf sexual harassment policy in place. The others which were Cope, the IFP, UDM and the EFF have no signs of having sexual harassment policies drawn up.— Rebecca Davis, Author and journalist
What the ANC for instance has had it seems up to this point, instead of a sexual harassment policy is just one clause in its constitution which prohibits is members engaging in sexual of physical abuse of women and children, or abuse of office to obtain sexual favors from members.
