How this year’s Budget will affect your pocket

The 2019 National Budget in the tiniest of nutshells:

  • Minister Mboweni announced a small adjustment to the tax threshold; remaining brackets are unchanged, meaning some taxpayers will move into a new income tax bracket after a salary increase (i.e. “bracket creep”).

  • He increased the fuel levy by 30 cents a litre for petrol and 29 cents a litre for diesel.

  • Sin taxes are up.
