The African National Congress (ANC)'s National Working Committee (NWC) has decided to remove both the party's head of Presidency Zizi Kodwa and spokesperson Pule Mabe from their positions as party spokespeople.
The decision came after Kodwa was accused of rape and Mabe's accuser laid a criminal charge against him.
EWN reporter Clement Manyathela who is following the story says the ANC has announced an urgent media briefing to address these developments.
They are expected to deal with this particular issue, but is interesting is that over the last few minutes, we received a statement from Pule Mabe where he says he is unaware that he was removed as the spokesperson for the ANC.— Clement Manyathela, Reporter - EWN
He says at the time he was writing this statement, he was not told at all that he would be suspended. What he says, is that he is still on leave and he has even asked the ANC to extend is leave so that he can fully recover from this whole incident.— Clement Manyathela, Reporter - EWN
