Criminal law expert Ulrich Roux says in the instance where police do not act against someone who is infringing a protection order, victims should approach a station commander.
Roux says he has been involved in quite a few matters where a protection order was not adhered to and this resulted in further abuse.
He says it is unlawful for police to not act in accordance with the court order.
If there is no joy with the station commander then take it up higher, a provincial head of the police, and then for that person to really give proper attention to these issues.— Ulrich Roux, Criminal law expert
He says unfortunately if there are allegations of corruption by police, there must be evidence.
If it is found that police and other officials have made themselves guilty of corruption then they should be dealt with accordingly.— Ulrich Roux, Criminal law expert
