'I want the world to know that Mandla was using my daughter for his own gain'
Bongekile 'Babes Wodumo' Simelane's father Reverend Mbongeni Simelane says it has been a difficult time for his family and the abuse has been going on for a long time.
Simelane speaks to Bongani Bingwa in the wake of a video surfacing online in which singer and dancer Babes Wodumo is allegedly beaten by her partner Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo.
Wodumo has since laid a criminal complaint with the police against Mampintsha.
When people are in love with each other, there are things that need to be addressed and if there is abuse they need to tell someone.Reverend Mbongeni Simelane, Bongekile 'Babes Wodumo' Simelane's father
I am very disappointed and hurt at what Mandla has done to my daughter. I am not pleased about that.Reverend Mbongeni Simelane, Bongekile 'Babes Wodumo' Simelane's father
Simelane adds that he once had a meeting with Mampintsha's father and Mampintsha himself to address the abuse.
I said Mandla, please don't hit, don't kick and don't abuse my daughter for your own gain. Mandla consumed everything that Babes made, even the Black Panther payout. I want the world to know that Mandla was using my daughter for his own financial gain.Reverend Mbongeni Simelane, Bongekile 'Babes Wodumo' Simelane's father
Semalane adds that his daughter is in a safe place away from Mampintsha.
