According to the Gauteng Department of Education, three pupils at a Soweto school have been suspended after a female pupil was raped at orientation camp.
The department released a statement saying that the incident happened at the secondary school's induction camp in De Deur over the weekend.
Gauteng Department of Education's spokesperson Steve Mabona has confirmed the suspension of the three pupils and the incidence has been reported with the police.

We understand that this took place at a camp where Grade 8s were being orientated on how to behave in a classroom and how to cope with a new curriculum and, unfortunately, this occurred.— Steve Mabona, Spokesperson - Gauteng Department of Education
He adds that this happened at a camp and the Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi has instructed that all camps for orientation need to stop with immediate effect.
