'80% of R132 billion allocated to health, education and social development'

Gauteng Finance MEC Barbara Creecy delivered her provincial budget on Tuesday morning.

In 2018, R121 billion was announced for Gauteng with Education and Health receiving the bulk of that budget.

The 2019/2020 budget is R132 billion.

Creecy says it is always difficult to meet all the needs for all Gauteng residents.

What you would know is that one in four South Africans live in our province and our total population according to Stats SA last year is estimated at 14.7 million.

I have allocated 80% of the R132 billion to health, education and social development to keep up with the constant demand for increases in public services, particularly in health and education.

She adds that she has also allocated R33 billion over the next three years for infrastructure spending.
