The North West High Court sentenced Pieter Dooreward and Philip Schutte to an 18 and 23-year jail sentence respectively on Wednesday.
This is after the pair was found guilty for killing Matlhomola Moshoeu in 2017 after accusing him of stealing sunflowers.
Judge Ronnie Hendricks in his sentencing called the two actions as 'appalling and disgraceful'.
EWN reporter Thando Kubheka who is following the story says there was an unhappy reaction from all sides when the sentence was handed down.
We spoke to Moshoeu's father who said the family had hoped that the pair would at least get life behind bars sentence. We also spoke to a community leader who also hoped for a life sentence because of the seriousness of the crime.— Thando Kubheka, Reporter - EWN
