World's most expensive new car ever sold

The Bugatti La Voiture Noire has a 1 500 horsepower 16-cylinder engine. It's the first time this has ever been fitted to a car.

All the components of the car have been handcrafted says Bugatti.

And within moments of being launched at the 110 Years Collection at the Geneva Motor Show, the most expensive new car in the world was snapped up by a buyer - at the cool price tag of $19 million. That's about R275 million.

The buyer's identity has not been revealed.

Stephan Winkelmann, president of Volkswagen-owned Bugatti, said: 'The true form of luxury is individuality.'

La Voiture Noire means 'black car' and that sums up the sleek machine.
