35 000 Riders have turned out for the 42nd edition of the Cape Town Cycle Tour, the largest timed race in the world.
EWN's Carl Lewis is at the finish line and reports that although wind is always a factor, this year there seems to be no reason for genuine concerns.
In terms of cancelling the event or genuine concerns, they haven't reached their threshold yet. Organisers seem very calm.— Carl Lewis, Sports reporter - EWN
In terms of the women's race, Lewis says the field is very strong this year.
There's a strong group of Amy McDougall, Tiffany Keep, Kim le Court... they're all strong mountain bikers.— Carl Lewis, Sports reporter - EWN
And the men's race?
The usual contenders are Nolan Hoffman - he's won the race three times - and there always seems to be a bit of a rivalry with Clint Hendricks. So those are the names we should be looking out for.— Carl Lewis, Sports reporter - EWN
