This is the second time a brand-new Boeing aircraft has crashed minutes into flight in less than six months.

Aviation expert and Managing Editor at SA Flyer Magazine Guy Leitch, says this is a tragedy in the African aviation industry.

Especially because Africa has done so much to improve its aviation record over the past five years from being as much as nine times more dangerous in the world average to having no fatal accidents over the past few years.

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it has grounded all its Boeing 737 Max 8.
