Police following leads in Mondeor High murder after receiving video footage

Video footage may lead to the arrest of those behind the murder of a Mondeor High School pupil.

19-year-old Kulani Mathebula, a pupil at the school, was fatally stabbed while on his way to school on Wednesday morning.

His body was found near a park close to the school premises. .

Eyewitness News (EWN) reporter Thando Kubheka has more on the story.

Forensic officials, and police spent most of the morning combing the scene where he was fatally stabbed. His uncle told us that he had actually received a call from Mathebula before he died, in his final moments, informing him that he had been stabbed. His uncle asked him who had done this to him and Mathebula said he did not know.

The MEC visited the school and family earlier today. The principal was saying that she was distraught and was one of the first people to be at the scene, she says when she arrived Mathebula was still alive but could not say anything. The MEC said they would be providing counselling to the school and family.

Saps spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela says they are following every lead to make sure the suspects are arrested.

According to the information we are following, it appears that three suspects were involved.
