[WATCH] A riot of colour and sound - the Cape Town Carnival!

The 2019 Cape Town Carnival lived up to the theme this year: 'Vuka Ukhaye' which means arise and shine.

Extravagantly costumed performers and musicians entertained spectators on the street and atop elaborate floats.

And, judging by the crowd's reaction, they did not disappoint.
