New Ipsos poll shows ANC winning 2019 election, rates Ramaphosa a vote puller
A new Ipsos poll released on Tuesday says that the African National Congress (ANC) will win the national elections on 8 May.
According to the poll, the ANC will receive 61% of the vote, the Democratic Alliance (DA) 18% and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) 10%.
Senior client officer at Ipsos, Mari Harris says President Cyril Ramaphosa is a big reason the ANC is doing well in the polls.
I do think that Cyril Ramaphosa is a huge vote puller for the ANC.Mari Harris, Senior client officer - Ipsos
We can see this if we look at trust indexes on how much trust people have on political parties and political leaders.Mari Harris, Senior client officer - Ipsos
The trust index from all registered voters for him (Ramaphosa) is 45% but if we just look at the registered voters for the ANC the trust index is 83%.Mari Harris, Senior client officer - Ipsos
She adds that the trust index for Ramaphosa is better than that of both Mmusi Maimane and Julius Malema.
In fact, both Maimane and Malema's trust index is negative if we look at all voters in the country but if we look at supporters of their own party, the trust is very high.Mari Harris, Senior client officer - Ipsos
