Constitution Hill festival opens its doors for SA to reflect on human rights

Many South Africans will today gather at Constitution Hill to partake in the Constitution Hill Human Rights Festival in Johannesburg.

The festival, themed #StandUp4HumanRights, aims to highlight the work of social justice organisations and the importance of civic activism.

Constitution Hill CEO Dawn Robertson says that while festival-goers will celebrate the strides made since the dawn of democracy, they will also reflect on the human rights issues that still need to be addressed in SA.

Robertson says that as South Africans observe Human Rights Day, they must acknowledge the responsibilities that go hand in hand with the Bill of Rights.

We have made some gains, but what do we still need to do?

Dawn Robertson, CEO - Constitutional Hill

The four-day festival kicks off on Thursday and will feature free tours, exhibitions, performances, public lectures and more.
