Ramaphosa appoints Edward Kieswetter as new Sars Commissioner

Edward Kieswetter is the new Commissioner of the South African Revenue Service (Sars).

President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed him on the recommendation of a panel led by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni.

Kieswetter – deputy Sars Commissioner from 2004 to 2009 - starts his five-year contract on 1 May.

He is a former CEO of the Alexander Forbes Group.
