The teacher has since been released on bail.

She refused to give the money and that is why the video has been circulated.

Meanwhile Gauteng social development MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza has visited the nursery school .

She says she has discovered that the crèche which takes care of 15 children is in fact illegal.

The creche is not registered, so social workers have been telling the the principal that it should be registered but it fell on deaf ears. She has a conditional certificate of 2015 and 2016, she sat on that certificate from 2016.

Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, MEC - Gauteng social development

When you get a conditional certificate you are told that this is temporary, only for one year and therefore you have to comply so that you can get a permanent certificate. These are the kind of things that happen when early childhood development spaces are not registered...

Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, MEC - Gauteng social development

Mayathula-Khoza says the crèche will be closed down. The MEC says parents who have spoken to her insist that the principal was aware of the abuse.

We have decided that this creche is going to be closed.

Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, MEC - Gauteng social development

The principal says she has not been aware but I have just spoken to the parents and they say that the principal is aware. One parent says their child arrived home with injuries and when she reported it to the principal, the principal did nothing and said the child fell from a swing. It seems the principal is playing victim.

Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, MEC - Gauteng social development

It seems the principal is playing victim, to her it is a business, it is a money making scheme.
