Alex residents threaten to shut down Sandton after Mashaba a no-show at meeting
Alexandra residents have threatened to take their protest to Sandton after Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba was a no-show at a community meeting on Friday.
On Wednesday, demonstrators started taking to the streets to protest against poor service delivery and the erection of illegal structures.
Despite calls to be addressed by Mashaba, the mayor has now confirmed he will only visit the area on 15 April.
At Friday's meeting residents expressed their frustrations, accusing the mayor of undermining them and threatening to move on Sandton.
