W Cape govt blames ANC for staging Khayelitsha service delivery protests

Western Cape Human Settlements MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela has described the recent protests in Khayelitsha and Somerset West as a desperate attempt by the ANC to render the Western Cape ungovernable.

He says the ANC is 'desperate' to win the elections and is using tactics to taint the Western Cape government.

Protestors in Khayelitsha are complaining about high water bills, but Madikizela says a meeting with the community to deal with the issues was cancelled.

He says this indicates the concerns expressed were not genuine.

Madikizela has called on the community to reschedule the cancelled meeting so as to address the concerns.
