MaNtuli's lawyer wants clarity from NPA on Zuma 'poison plot' case

Former first lady Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma has appealed to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to make a decision on poisoning allegations facing her from 2015.

Ntuli-Zuma, the estranged wife of ex-President Jacob Zuma, has spoken out about the unresolved case through her legal representatives.

Known as MaNtuli, she was accused of attempting to poison her husband in 2015 and was apparently ordered to leave the Nkandla homestead since the claims emerged.

Her lawyer, Ulrich Roux, says MaNtuli was identified as a suspect in the case by the then NPA boss Shaun Abrahams.

Roux says the NPA has taken no decisive action in the case while the charges of conspiracy to commit murder linger for MaNtuli.

He says his client would like to be cleared of the charges or prosecuted so that she can prove her innocence in court.

The charges are still hanging over my client's head, four years later.

In 2015 charges were laid at the Nkandla police station. The charges were conspiracy to commit murder.

We have operated in full with Saps, met with NPA and deposed an affidavit answering numerous questions.

My client has, from the outset, denied any knowledge of any plot to kill Jacob Zuma any involvement in the matter. Yet the charges still remain pending.
