Ramaphosa says Alexandra visit is not part of ANC's electioneering campaign

President Cyril Ramaphosa has met with Alexandra residents to hear their concerns.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura also visited the area on Tuesday after protests erupted last week over service delivery.

Hundreds of people turned out to hear the President's address.

EWN’s Kgomotso Modise reports that this address included a swipe at Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba with Ramaphosa saying he'd come because the mayor had failed to do so.

We have heard from the president that he has come here to do what the mayor has failed to do, which is to come and listen to the concerns of the people.

He mentioned that this is an election year and this may look like he is campaigning, but truly he is here to listen to the grievance of the people and people have been very excited,
