[WATCH] Happy ending after local mutt gets himself into a jam

Local Simonstown dog Simon found himself wedged under a rock after chasing dassies.

Simon's mom was distraught and turned to the Cape Medical Response team for help.

The trapped dog was 3 metres deep, under a large boulder.

Watch the rescue below:

Darren Zimmerman of Cape Medical Response requested assistance from NSRI Station 10 Simon's Town, Simon's Town Fire & Rescue, TEARS Animal Rescue and Cape of Good Hope SPCA.

Responders say they were able to hook Simon by his collar to bring him closer using a ceiling hook from the fire department and a dog catching device from the SPCA finally freeing the pooch.

Simon was trapped for about an hour and only suffered a bit of a fright and dirty paws from the experience. After a rinse, he was his usual self again.
