E-hailing taxis under attack in Western Cape

E-hailing taxis (Uber, Taxify) are under attack in the Western Cape.

Western Cape Metered Taxi vice chairperson David Drummond says the issue is not the area in which the e-hailing services operate but the drivers and the clients.

Speaking to John Maytham, Drummond says more training is needed for the operators.

It is not a specific area that is the problem.

Drummond says they have pushed for training for a couple of years but this has not materialised.

We've had a lot of foreign drivers joining the e-hailing and meter taxis but these guys are not familiar with the city and the people and they are soft targets.
