Clap down on illegal cannabis products

The South African medicine regulator is concerned about illegal sales of unregistered cannabis-containing products claiming medical benefits.

SA Health Products Regulatory Authority (Sahpra) is working closely with the police to clamp down those selling these products.

Azania Mosaka spoke the head of regulatory compliance at Sahpra on the progress made so far.

We have identified some of the people who are breaking the law. We are busy with the investigations.

Some of the claims made say some of these products cure Aids and people who are really ill are most vulnerable.
