BLF will not apologise - Andile Mgxitama

Defiant leader of the Black Land First (BLF) Andile Mgxitama says the Human Rights Commission has allowed itself to be a tool for racists.

The Equality Court has ruled that the party's slogan 'land or death' constitutes hate speech.

BLF has been given a month to remove the contentious slogan from its website, as well as its regalia and other public platforms.

Speaking to Clement Manyathela, Mgxitama says the commission is notorious for making wrong decisions.

We are surprised by how the commission is inconsistent. Julius Malema appeared before commission for the way he makes statements about murdering white people and the commission said it is not hate speech.

In our case, a white woman just sees our slogan on our clothing when we are passing by and she says that is racist. They hired five attorneys and an advocate to take us to court.

We are not going to apologise. We are going to take this ruling on review.

Meanwhile, the South African Human Rights Commission(SAHRC) Gauteng provincial manager Buang Jones says it hopes this ruling will send a message to political parties.

Racial bigotry has no place in South Africa; we should all join hands to promote social cohesion.

The leader of the BLF after the ruling continued to shout the slogans and told the media they would not issue an apology.
