Join the Darkness Into Light walk to raise awareness against suicide

This weekend, hundreds of thousands of people around the world will get together to walk from the darkness of night into the light of morning.

The walk has been organised to raise global awareness against suicide and self-harm.

Cape Town's Darkness Into Light chairperson Debra Sowter speaks to CapeTalk's Pippa Hudson about the event and what it aims to achieve.

Darkness Into Light is all about the power of hope and that's the slogan for this year.

Sowter says the support hasn't been that great but the organisers are hoping that by Friday the numbers would have changed.

The entrance is currently sitting at 232.

Tickets are sold at R150 for adults, R100 for students and pensioners and R70 for children aged 6-17.

The walk sets off at 06h30 at Green Point lighthouse for a 5km route.
