Desmond Tutu in jovial mood after casting special vote
Archbishop emeritus Desmond Tutu has cast his vote amid the special voting leg of the 2019 elections.
Tutu and his wife, Leah, made their mark on Monday morning at their Milnerton home in Cape Town.
The pair are among 65,000 Western Cape residents expected to vote over the next two days.
Eyewitness News (EWN) reporter Shamiela Fisher was there. She describes how a jovial Tutu thanked Independent Electoral Commission officials as he accompanied them out of his home.
We did not get to speak to the Tutus. What happened was, we waited for about an hour and the three IEC officials were accompanied by a DA representative and ward councillor.Shamiela Fisher, Reporter - EWN
When the proceedings were concluded they came outside, the arch walked a short distance with them. He thanked the media and IEC officials and just said God bless you and walked back to his home.Shamiela Fisher, Reporter - EWN
But in the appearances he does make, he always seems jovial even though he does not talk about his political views anymore.Shamiela Fisher, Reporter - EWN
