#2019NationalElections: 70 000 officers deployed amid fears of protests in KZN

Amid concerns of service delivery protests flaring up during elections on Wednesday, 70 000 law enforcement officers have been deployed in KwaZulu-Natal

The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) is tasked with the security on the day.

The department is also dealing with the aftermath of the floods, in which many roads were washed away, making it potentially difficult to access polling stations in certain areas.

Eyewitness News reporter, Nthakoana Ngatane has more on the story. She says the South African Defence Force (SANDF) has also been deployed to look at strategic infrastructure.

The main thing is service delivery protest from Ethekwini here in Durban to outlying areas in the province, this poses the biggest threat.
