While the uncertain financial outlook may make you re-consider any travel plans, there are ways to ensure you get the best value for your rand.

The earlier you book, the better rate you are going to get. In addition, (booking early) allows you to have top options of the different types of accommodation, the seats on flights...

Something South Africans are already wise to, considering the unpredictability of the rand, is travel package deals with no hidden costs.

Also among the top travel money-saving tips is finding family holiday packages where kids under 12 stay free, eat free and sometimes even fly for free.

Booking directly with tour operators and making use of loyalty programmes opens the door to further discounts.
