Oom Fredie Blom turns 115 in style
On Thursday, Fredie Blom celebrated his 115 birthday in Cape Town.
The occasion was on 8 May but he couldn't celebrate it because it was election day.
He was showered with gifts, love and treats at the Delft Civic Centre for this birthday party, where he was also surrounded by 115 other elderly persons.
Community activist Gadija Francis, who organised Blom's party, describes how the idea came about.
This year Blom reached a milestone and celebrated a huge birthday and because he once told me that he never had a huge party before, we felt we needed to throw him a party.Gadija Francis, Community activist
