News24 editor-in-chief, Adriaan Basson says African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule's tone when addressing the public, is aggressive and determined to undermine President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Basson shares this sentiment speaking to 702 Bongani Bingwa.
This aggression and undermining of the president started quicker than I thought it would. I thought he would give Ramaphosa, some time after the elections. But it is evident that Cyril Ramaphosa is under attack from Magashule and others.— Adriaan Basson, Editor-in-chief - News24
Basson says he heard a few weeks ago that Lindiwe Sisulu had joined the Magashule ANC camp.
The history of this is, of course, Sisulu was running for ANC president at Nasrec and she lost out and then became deputy president candidate in the Ramaphosa camp and behind the scenes, Ramaphosa's lobbyists were making a deal with DD Mabuza, that happened and Mabuza came in as deputy president. She is very angry about that apparently.— Adriaan Basson, Editor-in-chief - News24
He says Sisulu is very ambitious and wants to be president and has made herself available to the Magashule faction.
It will be tough to recall Ramaphosa, but what they can do is make life uncomfortable for him, and they will try to win back the national executive committee (NEC).— Adriaan Basson, Editor-in-chief - News24
