'All pointers direct to the Islamic State'

The 25 South African tourists involved in a bus explosion in Egypt have returned home while the other three injured in the blast remain in hospital.

A group of tourists were travelling near the Grand Egyptian Museum and not far from the pyramids in Giza when the vehicle was attacked.

Speaking to Ray White on the Xolani Gwala show, Terrorism Research and Analysis Consortium director, Jasmine Opperman says the attack was not aimed at South Africans but tourists in general.

There has been no official claim to credit but all pointers direct to the Islamic State in Egypt itself.

They are hitting the tourism sector because they want to dent the tourism sector which contributes 20% to the GDP.

Opperman says when travelling to Egypt, Europe and the Middle-East, these precautions need to be taken.

They need to make sure what the security situation is. To make sure what the government stand is and their security preparation.

They need to prepare that in case if something like this happens who contact and what to do and keep in touch with your family all the time.
