Rob Packham found guilty of wife's murder

Constantia businessman Rob Packham showed 'no reaction' as he was on Monday found guilty of the murder of his wife Gill.

Packham was arrested in February last year after Gill's body was discovered in the boot of her burnt-out BMW at Diep River train station.

EWN reporter Lauren Isaacs was in court for the judgment.

Throughout the judgment, it seemed almost that he disputed what the judge was saying. Almost confused, perplexed.

Previously he always acted very confident. Making snide remarks, but today he seemed anxious.

He tried to say something to his daughter, and as he leaned over the court orderly then came and told him it's time to go now.

In handing down judgment, Judge Elize Steyn called Packham's testimony 'suspicious and implausible' and questioned why he had failed to report his wife missing.

During the trial, the court heard how the couple had been having marital issues at the time of Gill's murder.

Packham was also found guilty of a charge of defeating or obstructing the administration of justice.
