SA drone regulations are now reality, effective from 1 July

South African drone laws come into effect on 1 July 2015. While anyone above the age of 18 will be allowed to purchase a drone, with or without a licence, the regulations restrict the use of drones dramatically.

Braam Botha, Operations Manager at UAV Industries speaks to CapeTalk’s John Maytham about the new drone regulations:

It is basically to protect everybody from hazards and making sure that we have an industry that’s being regulated here, in the right sense giving people clear guidelines to operate legally. We want to make sure that commercial operators out there have the perfect legal frame work to operate within and making sure that we share the air space

Braam Botha, Operations Manager at UAV

The regulations are now available to the public on the CAA website
