'Ford has treated us as if we're absolutely nothing' says Reshall Jimmy's sister

CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies speaks to Renisha Jimmy, sister of Reshall Jimmy, who died when his Ford Kuga burst into flames.

Renisha reflects on the testimony of expert John Louds. He works for US company Exponent Incorporated and they specialise in fire-related incidents or electrical failure.

It's been appalling from day 1. I think the entire world knows, our family had to cry, scream, just to get anything from them.

They come to court now making the story that they have always been forthcoming and happy to assist but it has not been the case. We've had a 3-year battle fighting tooth-and-nail to get anything out of them.

They have treated us as if we're absolutely nothing and made our grieving process so much harder, with rumours that Reshall committed suicide, that he was murdered. That left us fighting the rumours than grieving my brother.

She says their advocate, Gerrie Nel did brief her on Monday before the court session.

Expert John Loud testified in the Reshall Jimmy Ford Kuga case on Monday. He threw out numerous options he suggested could have caused the fire, from a lighter, a cell phone charger to a vape device.

She says with regard to the 'vape device' its 'expert' found in the vehicle, the family is clear that Reshall never smoked. She believes it could have been a cell phone charger.

She says Ford is now countering its own earlier experts and putting all its store in the latest expert John Louds.

It is really shocking.

She says no evidence proves the fire started in the back of the car.

I believe justice will prevail.
