Twenty Cape Town dogs facing euthanasia find safe homes

The Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha has managed to secure a safe home for 20 stray dogs that were in their care.

The facility was at double capacity for stray dogs earlier this week, meaning they may have to make the tough choice to euthanise some of them.

The clinic’s fundraising and communications manager, Marcelle du Plessis explains the processes taken to ensure that the dogs have secure homes.

The initial process is that they fill in a form which helps us understand the home better and thereafter we do a home check.

We have to make sure that the home and the people are best suited for the animal.

The facility which operates as a veterinary hospital has been in existence for the past 23 years.

It receives many abused, sick and abandoned animals from all corners of Khayelitsha. It helps rehabilitate them and find them suitable homes.
